This good news
“Tell the people of Jerusalem,
‘Look, your King is coming to you.
He is humble, riding on a donkey—
riding on a donkey’s colt.’” —Matthew 21:5
Think about this good news. Your King is coming to you. And He’s doing this now. As in right now. Where you are. And this should make you smile the Big Smile, the one you should do more often: He is coming to you with what you’re wearing, which may not be what you wear in public. (See, I knew you’d smile — or laugh — at this.) If that didn’t get a smirk (you’re a tough audience!), then this King is coming to you with your hair that… that… hmmm… Wear a hat.
Add to this good news. This King is humble, not highfalutin. (Add more good news. You won’t have to look up how to spell ‘highfalutin’ like I just did because you have the word now.)
All of this good news is actually great news because there is no bad news. This King loves you. This King loves ALL of who you are—including your ketchup-stained shirt and your hair that may be having its own issues today.
This King loves you during your hot messes, your cold thoughts, and everything in between. This King sticks beside you at your worst, not just when the world deems you worthy.
This is the King who is coming. And it’s time to celebrate. The people lining the streets of Jerusalem used their own coats and palm branches to set down before Jesus, the King.
Yes, celebrate Your King coming to you in the way that fits your love for Him because His love for you sent Him to the cross.
PRAYER: With what may be messy hair, we take our our hats to You. We smile that Big Smile. We celebrate You because, You, King, are the best good news ever.
