You command nations?
See how I used [David] to display my power among the peoples. I made him a leader among the nations. You also will command nations you do not know, and peoples unknown to you will come running to obey. — Isaiah 55:4-5a
Ever feel like even your dog isn’t listening to you? Or the tech gadget in your hand—the one you’ve been talking to—isn’t listening to what you want it to do?
Just say yes to either or both of those questions. Why? Because it’s true. It would be nifty to command a nation, even if that nation is the square footage or your own home or apartment. Oh, and having just read this from the Prophet Isaiah, add that people you don’t know will come running to you to do whatever it is you ask them to do.
God is using the Prophet Isaiah to speak to a people who are truly down and out. God wants to empower them through the same covenant the Great “I AM” wants to use to empower you. Think. Imagine. Dream. Go and do. Our mighty powerful God and the not so powerful you as a team can do more than you’ll do alone. Ever. And you’ll have joy in this. Really good joy.
And another bonus? This covenant—this joy—remains intact, even when the dog is off on her own thing (which hopefully is not destroying the couch) while that techy thing in your hand that should work goes kaput.
PRAYER: Yes, Lord, I’m in. Empower me with Your covenant, Your commitment to me and mine to You. With joy, let’s take on this world as a twosome. Amen.
