A real Jesus miracle: He loves us enough to show up
That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. — John 20:19
Turning water to wine is up there. The feeding of 5,000. Ah, yes. Let’s not forget how the Son of God brought Lazarus back from four days of death.
Jesus has done GREAT miracles.
On the scale, I just ranked Jesus’ miracles from least to greatest. Of course, I’m kidding. No one ranks Jesus’ miracles, but a very important one happens this Sunday. And it’s not that Jesus just suddenly appears. (That is amazing.) What I lift is this miracle. Jesus shows up even when we don’t invite or include Him. He’s there when we are way too scared. He’s present even when, for a time, we ignore Him.
Maybe you can argue what I mention here in the miracle department is small time, but I’ll respectfully disagree. I think having Jesus with us in every situation (ESPECIALLY the ones where we don’t look so good) is a huge miracle. It’s a tremendous gift beyond all measure.
And note Jesus isn’t on autocorrect with His disciples. He is not badgering or belittling them. He’s doing something beautiful. He’s bringing peace.
Jesus stands among us. And Jesus brings what Jesus brings—and that’s peace.
That, dear ones, is a miracle.
PRAYER: Help us know You’re in the room, dear Jesus. Amen.
