The thrill!
Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. — Matthew 21:8
The Lady Eagles basketball team should receive great fanfare and tremendous cheer as they leave the high school early Friday morning, March 22, to travel to Hershey, PA. The ladies are headed for the state championship. How exciting! What cause for celebration!
The short ride from the school to the nearby interstate entrance ramp will have a police escort. It’s easy to imagine the route will be a victory parade as it should be. Um, hello! What a joy this is!
This upcoming parade, now hours away, will be like the parade Christians around the world celebrate every Sunday, Palm Sunday. The same energy—the same thrill—will be present.
I say enjoy the thrill. Have fun with the pomp and circumstance. Get involved. Cheer!
Days like this are far and few between. Great wins went into this great ride, and lives will change because of what will happen.
Lives also changed because of what happened to Jesus during and after His celebration parade. The energy and rush that fans and supporters will have as the sun rises is the same energy and rush that can (and should) come about as the Son enters our lives and Passion Week begins. No pun, but Jesus IS the game changer. The One who changes sin to salvation is the best cheer we can raise.
With the fervor in the streets of Jerusalem to the fervor for a wonderful team from a school in Kingsley is all the reason to celebrate the Savior who carries the best slam dunk which is the single act of death to life not for Himself but for all who love and follow Him.
PRAYER: May the thrill of one parade remind us of the thrill of another. Yes, Jesus, it is time to celebrate the BEST victory, eternal life.
